Troubleshooting
Cash on Delivery isn't showing at checkout
- In Limit COD, check that your COD payment method is selected and Status is Active.
- Check every rule you've turned on — order total, discount, products, collections, vendors, gift cards, location and customer rules can each hide COD. Test with a cart, address and customer that pass all of them.
- On the Free plan, check you haven't reached this cycle's order limit on the Dashboard. See what happens at the limit.
- If you use delivery sync, check the COD delivery option is available for that address.
My COD shipping rate isn't listed
Create or update the rate in Shopify under Settings → Shipping and delivery, then click Refresh Shipping Rates in Fee Settings. Give it a clear, unique name such as Cash on Delivery or COD – Standard.
How do I test my COD rules?
Save your settings, then go through checkout with a cart, address, shipping option and customer that should pass your rules. To test a restriction, also try one that should fail — for example a subtotal below your minimum, or a postal code you've blocked.
How do I pause all COD restrictions?
In Limit COD, set Status to Inactive and save. Your rules stay saved and apply again when you set it back to Active.
General questions
How do I create a COD payment method in Shopify?
Go to Settings → Payments → Manual payment methods and add a custom payment method called e.g. Cash on Delivery. Then select it in Limit COD and save. See the setup guide.
What does "Keep delivery options in sync" do?
It hides your COD delivery option whenever a rule hides COD as a payment method, so shoppers can't pick a COD delivery option they can't pay for. Turn it on in Limit COD and select every delivery option you use for COD — including the rate from Fee Settings, if you use one.
Can I set a minimum and maximum order total?
Yes. Turn on the order total rule and enter a minimum, a maximum or both. COD only shows when the order total is in that range. Leave the maximum empty for no upper limit.
Can I hide COD for certain products or collections?
Yes — for products, variants, collections, vendors and gift cards. Collections and vendors can also work the other way: show COD only for them. See Limit COD.
Can I restrict COD by customer?
Yes, by customer tag, email address or phone number. Tags can also work the other way: show COD only for customers with them. Enter phone numbers with the country code, e.g. +14155552671 or +919876543210.
What's the difference between Static Fee and Dynamic Fee?
Static Fee adds your COD fee through the shipping rates you select. Dynamic Fee works out the charge at checkout from a fixed amount, a percentage of the subtotal, or both. Only one can be on at a time. See COD fees.
Which plan includes Dynamic Fee?
Pro and Advanced — and your store must also be on Shopify Plus. See Plans.
Can I show shoppers that COD is available before checkout?
Yes, with the product page badge. It follows your COD rules and is free on every plan.
Which countries does the app work in?
All of them. The app uses Shopify's own checkout customizations, so it works wherever your store sells.
